Health

How does population relate to health?

Health issues affect everybody either as people in need of health care or as contributors to the economic system that supports provision of these services.

Different health issues affect particular groups. For example, maternity care relates to the number of women of childbearing age who choose to have children, genetic disorders affect some groups differently from others, environmental health issues affect people in particular localities and many disorders are age-specific.

Information on the structure and distribution of the population is required to measure and monitor these issues.
