Population data about corrections includes a census of prison inmates that shows the number of inmates and describes characteristics like age, sex, ethnicity.

Other statistics about sentencing give details about the types of sentences imposed and the proportions of each type.

Source for information on offending in New Zealand and changes in offending patterns over time. This is an electronic publication to be published annually, replacing the biennial prison census which was conducted from 1987 to 2003.
