The policy development cycle

The policy development cycle is intended for use in larger-scale policy development and service planning exercises.

It can be used as a framework to help identify population issues in their broader context, to suggest linkages across different stages of the cycle and different parts of organisations, and to provide more comprehensive checklists.

Actual policy or service planning exercises may involve only some parts of this cycle.

Each stage of the cycle links to detailed questions and prompts for that stage.
